Our school places great emphasis on the important role of educational counselling which plays an important role in students’ overall happiness and well-being.
Our educational counsellors provide one-on-one and group guidance to students, help them understand and accept themselves (their capabilities, interests, needs, etc.).They also teach them how to deal with their feelings and express them in a healthy manner, provide moral support and advice to students in times of hardship and help in conflict resolution.
Educational Counselling Aims
Educational Counselling at NOS aims at:
- Help students understand themselves better (their abilities, interests, needs, etc…)
- Develop all aspects of students’ personalities.
- Facilitate students’ natural growth process in various physical, psychological and health aspects.
- Prevent students from delinquency and getting into different kinds of trouble.
- Help students adapt socially and professionally and achieve good mental health.
- Improve the learning process and increase students’ motivation.
- Develop students’ life skills (self-control / self-guidance/ decision-making/ social skills/ professional maturity/ career choice/ problem solving skills).
Educational Counselling Services
NOS specialised counsellors provide guidance services in order to achieve the above-mentioned aims using different methods and strategies, such as:
- Interviews and individual counselling.
- Individual case study.
- Collective educational and vocational training courses.
- Collective counselling (counselling groups)
- Lectures, seminars, studies and publications.
- Professional visits.
- Correcting students’ behavior and teaching them needed skills.
- Special education and referral to competent specialists.
- Organizing and documenting school work and records.
- Studying students' issues and dealing with them before referring them to the school discipline council.
